YES (You’re Extra Special)
YES is a unique ministry of healing, restoration, and deliverance for women who have been victimized by the sex industry, either through human trafficking, prostitution, pornography and/or domestic violence. The eight-week YES self-empowerment class uses the Life Recovery Bible, and dealing with issues, women are encouraged to become steadfast in their walk of faith, strengthened in their convictions, and determined to run this race with endurance by using all of their natural abilities and skills, and healing from past hurts.
Oasis House discovered that “reaching out” wasn’t limited to the Dixie Strip–it meant providing continuance of care wherever the women are. Oasis House now partners with the Montgomery County Jail Chaplaincy Ministry. Through the Jail Ministry, we conduct the eight-week YES program in the Jail, and refer the women to services at Oasis House and other area agencies after their release.
Trained Outreach Teams go into clubs on the Dixie Strip with homemade meals and develop relationships with the women by sharing information about Oasis House and showing the love of God.
Trained volunteers meet one-on-one with women and prepare them for the high school equivalency test to obtain their GED.
COUNSELING & PSYCHIATRIC CARE
Oasis House, in collaboration with Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, offers the women counseling and psychiatric care by appointment.
OHIO BENEFIT BANK
Oasis House is an approved site for women to apply for state benefits with a trained Ohio Benefit Bank counselor. State benefits include foodstamps, health care, energy assistance programs, cash assistance, and child care support programs.
Families receiving income-enhancing benefits put those funds to use in the communities they live–strengthening local businesses and local economies.
One-on-one basic computer training is available by appointment. Other computer services include resume development and access to the internet to complete online applications.
